Apple recently announced a range of new products, but one highly anticipated device was missing: the iPad 12th Generation. Fans and tech enthusiasts had been following leaks and rumors closely, expecting the base iPad to appear, but it didn’t make the cut this time.
During the announcements, Apple introduced the iPhone 17e, updated MacBook Air and Pro models, the new MacBook Neo, refreshed Studio Displays, and the high-end Studio Display XDR. Almost everything on the rumor list appeared—except the base iPads.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark German, Apple had plans to announce several devices between March 2–4, including the entry-level iPads. While they didn’t appear during this window, German notes that products missing in early March are usually released later in the spring. So, the iPad 12 is still very much on the way.
The delay seems strategic. Apple is focusing attention on the MacBook Neo, a flagship launch this cycle. Launching the iPad 12 alongside it could split media attention and comparisons between the $599 MacBook and $349 iPad, which Apple likely wanted to avoid.
What to expect from iPad 12:
• Processor: A major upgrade to the A18 chip, enabling faster performance and support for Apple’s AI features that the current base iPad cannot run.
• Memory: Reports suggest 8GB of RAM, improving multitasking, app management, and AI feature performance.
• Design: Mostly unchanged, with the 11-inch display, aluminium body, and current color options. Apple last redesigned the base iPad in 2022.
• Display & Features: Non-laminated display, no OLED or 120Hz refresh rate, keeping costs low and repairs easier.
Expected Launch: Likely late March or April 2026, often through a quiet website update rather than a big keynote presentation.
In short, the iPad 12 isn’t canceled or delayed indefinitely. Apple is simply managing its launch schedule. When it does arrive, expect the familiar design but with significant performance upgrades, making it a solid option for everyday tasks, productivity, and Apple’s AI-powered tools.
